Not to be outdone by the rest of the entertainment world, the Walt Disney Co has decided to celebrate themselves with their very own Convention. D23 (as in 1923 when Walt busted in on the Hollywood scene) will be held on 9/10-9/13 in Anaheim at the convention center. Much like San Diego’s Comic-Con & the Star Wars Convention held in L.A. a few years back, there will be exhibitions, panels, films, & obviously a selling floor. Passes are $37 a day, or less if you opt for the multi-day arrangement.
I’m a quick sell on this because a Star Tours update was mentioned. For those of you who aren’t so easily baited, there will also be a special Toy Story 3 preview, a screening of both Toy Story films in 3-D, a LOST exhibition, an “Alice in Wonderland” panel (most likely including Depp & Burton), and a special Captain EO exhibit in honor of MJ. Of course those are just highlights, you can catch the entire schedule plus delve into this excellent article by the LA Times.
I know James is hitting that up no doubt. At worst, I’m getting a one-day pass. However, let’s see if your boy can’t work that press angle for the whole weekend. You should come along. And if your name is Matty, and you live in Dallas, TX, and you love Disney, and have never been to Disneyland proper, this may be the time you make your move.
